JERRY CORTEZ (Tower of Power)
Jerry is the guitarist for Tower of Power as well as a phenomenal solo artist. For his signature model, we have designed a slightly deeper 000 model in Madagascar Rosewood and Italian Alpine Spruce with Jerry's signature "Abstract Flowerpot" inlays featured on the headstock, 12th fret surrounding, and end-graft.
Jerry's musicianship honors traditional styles of funk & soul while introducing a light, modern, and playful touch that gives his music an identity that is truly larger-than-life. The Jerry Cortez model highlights those themes by walking the line between traditionalism and modernity in the steel string guitar— with the signature Steinbock Fine Instruments responsiveness and tonal character.
I really enjoyed the process of observing and taking a small part in the creation of the JC Signature Model. I chose Madagascar rosewood paired with Italian Alpine Spruce for its sonic virtues: sweet trebles and punchy lows. The volume and sustain of each note and chord rivals just about any dreadnought size guitar I’ve ever played. The side sound port is a visual joy to see and hear as well. I look forward to the many days and nights in the practice room and recording studio with this unique and remarkable instrument...
